"Full Moon Rising"

19" tall

This shrine is round, almost like a shield. It is a protection piece. A vision piece. A piece that reflect dreams and radiates Light and Power.
This is an Angel Shrine.

The front of the Shrine is a mosaic of silver/irridescent grey abalone shards
divided into six sections by rectangles of silver mirror tiles.
The grout lines are embedded with tiny silver micro beads.
The top of the Shrine is created with a metal leaf piece, painted silver with pearlized shells
and swarovski rhinestones.
There are..again... six leaves. The number six stands for Love, responsibility, understanding.

Rising from the very top of the Shrine is a wing shaped point of irridescent glass.
This piece of glass turns a brilliant turquoise blue when light is reflected through it, as is shown in the photographs...without light, it remains a milky transparent white.
In front of the wing of glass is a vintage piece of jewelry, in the same wing shape.
On either side of the glass point are wings of antique bead work. These are from the turn of the century. Their placement is embellished with pearls on fine twisted wire.

The base of the Shrine is made up of several hunks of Kyanite natural crystal.
Kyanite stimulates communication and psychic awareness on all levels. It advances the conscious connection between the higher levels of intuition and heart-felt love, producing compassion in both communication and decision-making.

There are, in addition, 20 crystal points, two more antique beaded wings and pearlized shells.
The face in the shrine is sculpted from polyform clay. It then has a layer of transparent clay placed over it, and fired. At this point I added silver leaf and antique netting. Over the netting I placed antique beadwork with bugle beads and rhinestones and pearls.

Surrounding the Madonna face are a multitude of quartz crystal points.
Quartz is said to bring the energy of the stars into the soul.
The natural quartz crystal is said to both harmonize and align human energies
- thoughts, consciousness, emotions - with the energies of the universe.

The back of the Shrine is a mosaic of abalone shards.
At the center of the back of the shrine is a tiny altar space.
It is approx. 1-1/2" by 1-1/4" and 1-3/4" deep. It is a square that is surrounded by tiny shells and partially hidden by a drop of pearls on twisted gold wire.
When that is lifted, a tiny egg is seen. This egg symbolizes re-birth and transformation.
It also stands for creativity and the promise of possibilities.
